When is it too early to recruit? That’s a great question… Many parents and coaches believe there should be a minimum age before college coaches can begin the recruitment process. Currently there is a trend to begin recruiting athletes as early as the eighth grade for verbal commitments.
Early recruiting legislation has been proposed by college lacrosse coaches (Division I) for the NCAA 2016/17 legislative cycle.
Back in September 2015 the IWLCA drafted the legislation with support from the IMLCA and US Lacrosse. If the proposal passes April 2017, it would go into effect on August 1, 2017.
